DadGear Backpack Diaper Bag

The best diaper bag I've used so far...
I bought this bag a little over a month ago. I have an 11 month old son, and I find that he requires more and more "stuff" the older he gets. My one pocket diaper bag tote just wasn't cutting it. I looked at a lot of bags, and this one seemed to be the best. I just got back from a trip to New York, and I am thrilled with how this bag worked out for me.
The bottom compartment that holds the wipes is so great. It is easily accessible and it holds more wipes than one of the thin plastic containers that typically come with or are sold for diaper bags. The front pocket is a great place for sunscreen, medicine, and first aid supplies. The next pocket can fit up to 10 size 5 diapers, a changing pad, and diaper cream. The third compartment is the largest, and it is where I load his snacks, food, toys, drinks, and changes of clothes. There are two side pockets that will fit two 8 ounce bottles each. The top pocket is a great place to store plastic bags or my wallet, keys, and lip gloss.
This bag holds A LOT of stuff. I flew for six hours with my son, and everything he needed for the entire day, including quite a few little toys, fit into the bag, no problem.
The only thing that I did not use was the changing pad that came with it; I just switched it out for a larger one that I already have. I know this bag is called the "Dad Gear Pro" but it is great for Mom too (and Dad doesn't mind carrying it because it doesn't look like a purse).

Exceptional Bag For Dad...And Mom
We debated a lot about getting this bag because we thought it a tad pricey for a modified backpack. After reading a lot of reviews, we decided to get it in Hawaiian Blue and have not regretted our choice. The various pockets and pouches are well organized to the point where you can fit a ton in the bag without it feeling 'stuffed.' It is also easy to find the stuff once you get it all in unlike many other bags that just have a couple huge pockets. The diapers and wipes are expcetionally easy to get to as well which is always the struggle in most diaper bags.
The only negative we found - and it is not a huge one - is that the wipe container can be a bit tough to remove and put back in. Once in place the wipes will not come loose and there is no difficulty getting wipes out of it once you have put the wipe container back. Basically, the plastic hinged lid requires fairly precise placement to attach to the actual wipe container so it can be a little trying until you get the hang of it. I cannot think of a better way to have the wipes easily refillable and accessible once in the bag so this is more of a 'be aware' note than a real negative.
We are already talking about how handy this bag will be after our little one no longer needs a diaper bag. You can easily repurpose the bag and the various compartments definitely will be handy for hiking, day trips, etc. If you are tired of having a diaper bag that is constantly falling off your shoulder as you try to chase your running toddler or just want something a little more functional than other bags this is a great choice.

Don't Waste Your $
I purchased this product to travel to Spain with my 1 year old. The interior contruction is inferior and cheap. The diaper changing "pad" is a piece of nylon. I had to use the chaging pad from my JJ Cole bag.
The main compartment was not big enough to fit my ergo when all the other pockets were occupied.
I did like the seperate compartments for drinks, but quickly learned it was not water proof.
The diaper wipe compartment on the outside was handy, but rarely will you find a diaper chaging area that supports your child & this big bulky bag ( if it is full), so you still have to remove wipes prior to a change.
The biggest problem with the bag is that the snack compartment tore on the second day of use.
THANK GOODNESS TO [...] for allowing me to return the product after the 60 days. (we purchansed early to make sure we were set for trip)
They said they would only exchange product if they found manufacturing defect.
So, a big thumbs down for a really expensive bag.
Here is the substitute I purchased

Tons of pockets, more room & organization...
It even has the snack pocket

not that impressed
I purchased this bag because I needed a larger bag. My smaller bag has a temp. control pocket and has a larger changing pad. This bag came with a tiny pad that looked very cheap. I just was expecting more from such an expensive bag. Buy something else.

Great Backpack
We love the backpack. The location of wipes and diapers is awesome. Not as big a fan of the bottle pockets, they work for kid sized drinks and regular bottles of water, but we usually use the big nalgene bottles and an external holder would be better for that. It is relatively large and a compression strap would be good for the odd times when you do not need much. Overall great and seems fairly sturdy, but only time will tell.
