Great for new parents
Giving your child a strong emotional foundation is so important - expecially for first time parents. This book is a valuable, though not all-inclusive, guide to helping parents achieve the positive attitudes and self-reliance children need in today's world.

The best I've ever read
Informative and easy to understand guide on child raising. I loved the fact, that information on different researches is included and given advises are based on them.

My baby is turning out great thanks to this book.
Words cannot express how helpful this book is. When I realized I had no idea what I was doing this book gave me all the answers I had ever hoped for.

The two authors go over scientific observations on what certain parenting styles bring out in children. They then then give you ideas on how to apply those findings with your little ones.

Their advice has SCIENTIFIC proof to back it up. For example: Children whose parents attend to their cries in short periods of time cry less. This is a proven fact! The same children also grow up to have healthier relationships with their parents and feel more secure. On the other hand, children who are left to cry for long periods of time actually cry quicker and harder.

Can you imagine if every parent had that kind of knowledge, how much happier the children in the world would be if their parents weren't full of unsubstantiated, downright abusive advice like "just let the baby cry it out"?

I'm so grateful that this book came out. It tells you (with the evidence to back it up) what happens at the different stages of life in regards to things like sharing, confidence, fear, separation anxiety, and socialization amongst others. It brings understanding to why babies act the way they do and what your reactions to those expressions will teach them and affect them.

I hope you find a way to read this book (unlike the only one who gave this book a one star review... which by the way was merely a reflection of her own time constraints, not the content of this beautiful piece of knowledge) It WILL change the way you parent your children for the best :)

Excelent!
I am a new mom (5 month old baby) and found this book amazing. I really enjoyed reading it and I love that it covers both the theory and the practical side of how a child develops emotionally. It is very well organized; the first part covers the goals for emotional development, and the second part covers the challenges one encounters. Each chapter finishes with a very specific list of tips for parents, which are summarized at the end by theme, with a note of age relevance for quick reference. You can't get better organized than that!

So much to read through.
If you are like most new moms, you will not have time to read this book. I have to read through a few pages just to get one piece of good advice from it. That's time that I just don't have to spare. This book is not good as a how-to book and is not organized well enough for anyone with children.
