Definitely a must have if you have a child with SPD
I have read this book from cover to cover. It is a great tool to have in your arsenal to help your child with SPD! I think that if you have this book and the out-of-sync child has fun you have a winning combination! This book was a much easier to understand synopsis of SPD, how to deal with it and how to help your child learn to live with it than the original book Out-Of-Sync child. A definite must have for teachers, parents and others who have to deal with children with SPD!

Definitive Handbook

This book really helped me understand
people with sensory problems. You need
to have this book if someone in your family
has sensory problems. It helped me a lot
and I'm recommending them to my friends
who I know has someone in their family
with sensory problems. You will be
more compassionate and well educated
about the issue. FOR THE AUTHORS, THANK
YOU FOR MAKING THIS BOOK.

Best Book I have EVER Read on SPD
This book is thorough and the most up to date book on SPD that I have read. I would highly recomend it.

Helping Parents Make "Sense" of Their Child's World
Written by an Occupational Therapist trained in Sensory Integration and a parent who has a child with Sensory Processing Disorder, Lindsey Biel and Nancy Peske have given us thoughtful, easy to understand insights into a disorder that affects as many as 1 in 6 children.

The book is filled with practical tips and strategies for parents, helping them to look beyond observable behaviors to seek the triggers.

It should be on every parent's book shelf or "Wish List" - it is an extraordinary gift for any parent who is beginning their journey into SPD. It's on our MUST READ List.

Good gets even better
As our world gets faster, louder, more crowded and stress-laden, it's not just kids with disabilities who experience sensory challenges. It's all kids (and adults!) - some a little, some a lot. Yet most people never stop to think about sensory issues and the extent to which they interfer with learning, functioning, with daily living.

Lindsey Biel and Nancy Peske have done a bang-up job explaining the complexities and far-reaching effects of sensory challenges. I've read numerous books on sensory issues. What makes this book stand out is the clear, conversational tone coupled with page after page of practical, helpful information. The authors go way beyond "education" and give you the real life tools you need to make the world a friendlier place for individuals with sensory issues.

The first edition was great. This one, with its expanded attention to autism spectrum disorders, is even better. You'll return to it again and again for answers, activities, and inspiration.
