Fisher Price Ultimate Terrain Traction Jeep Hurricane

A Neighborhood Hit!
We bought this jeep as a birthday present for our four year-old. Needless to say, it was a hit, both with her and within the neighborhood!
While I agree with other posters that this jeep is on the large side, this is also part of what sets it apart from other battery-powered eide-on toys. It is very durable and well put together. We love the real working radio, as well as the fact that we could "lock" our daughter into the 2.5 mph speed while she got the hang of driving the vehicle, and later give her the 5 mph option.
While shopping for the "right" ride-on toy, I knew that we needed a two-seater (for little bro to ride with) as well as a toy that could handle the pavement and off-road conditions. This jeep met both requirements, and we are happy with our selection.
While a bit on the pricy side, I believe that this jeep is going to stand the test of time. If I had it to do over, I would purchase this product again.

GREAT VEHICLE "BUT"
THE VEHICLE MY SON LOVES THE ONLY PROBLEM I'VE HAD IS THE BATTERY COVER FOR THE FM RADIO DID NOT COME WITH THE VEHICLE, I CALLED FISHER PRICE AND THEY TOLD ME THE PART WAS NOT AVALIABLE AND GAVE ME SOME WEB SIGHTS TO TRY. WHEN I GOT A HOLD OF SOMEONE FROM THE WEB SITES THEY ALSO TOLD ME THE PART WAS NOT AVALIABLE. I WAS SENT A .00 GIFT CERTIFICATE TOWARDS ANY MATEL PURCHASE.

Looks Tough but isn't.
Let me start off by saying that my children love this toy. My daughter is 6, and my son is 5.
The original battery only lasted for 45 minutes at a time, so I replaced it with a 32 Amp Hr battery that now lasts all day.
The toy worked well for the first few months, but then I could hear a grinding sound when my children drove up slight grades. When I took the unit apart I discovered that the pinion gear attached to the motor is metal, (most likely steel), and the remainder of the gears in the reduction system are plastic. The teeth on final drive gear that mates to the hub were stripped. The material of the final drive gear appears to be Delrin 150, which is a fairly good material, that is commonly used for light duty gears. These are not what I would categorize as light duty gears though. To top it off you can only purchase the gearbox, and not the individual gears, and then you can only purchase it from authorized repair centers which are not easy to find. For the money one pays for this pricey toy, the drive system should be more reliable, and Fisher-Price should correct this deficiency.
